Here is a flash from the past

This previous workshop taught girls how to create a podcast show using various podcasting styles such as narrative, fiction, and interviews. Participants gained new presentation, audio recording, and editing skills, as well as a better understanding of what makes a podcast entertaining and engaging. This workshop was open to all young females between the ages of 13 and 18.

Melody Rowell

Melody Rowell is a Kansas City-based writer and podcast producer. Melody started Yellow Armadillo Studios, a podcast production and consulting firm, in October 2020.

She attended the Transom Story Workshop in Woods Hole, Massachusetts, and graduated with honors. She worked as a coordinator for the magazine and an assistant editor for the news team at National Geographic for two and a half years. Strict Scrutiny, a weekly podcast about the Supreme Court and the legal society that surrounds it, is now her project.

She relocated from Washington, D.C., to Kansas City, Missouri, to host Central Standard, a daily arts and culture talk show broadcast on KCUR 89.3. The Kansas City Press Club honored the show "Best Talk Show" under her leadership. For the first time, the Kansas City Press Club named the show "Best Talk Show" under her leadership. She also won a regional Edward R. Murrow award in 2021 for editing an hour-long special episode on climate change in Kansas City.

She's worked for NPR's 1A, Man Repeller's The Call, and the National Constitution Center as a freelancer.

Melody graduated from Johns Hopkins University with a master's degree in nonfiction writing. She earned a bachelor's degree in English Literature and Theory from William Jewell College's Oxbridge Honors Program.

Her free time is spent with her dog Polly touring Kansas City dog parks, watching Nationals and Royals baseball games with her husband Bobby, and stewarding a Little Free Library.
